Open Access Network win for CCE

An exclusive 5 year contract has been awarded to CCE from a University Science Park to install and run a new fibre based Open Access Network. CCE have just completed a 4km fibre run to connect 14 buildings on the campus to the newly built Point of Presence (POP). The POP offers managed rack space for ISPs to terminate their backhaul circuits and Retail Service Providers are given a managed network to their tenant clients in each of the premises.

The service has been designed to be resilient (there is a standby diesel generator to backup the power supply to the POP), and the Park has access to CCE’s 24 hour Network Operating Centre and engineering teams. The Open Access Network Model allows the Science Park to attract a high calibre of tenant who demand a wide choice of ISPs and Retail Service Providers, and working in partnership with CCE for the management of the network generates a revenue stream to help pay for this investment.
